| Slideshow
on Antiquities of Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt is one of the oldest
cultures about which we have a rich understanding and appreciation. Cultural practices
that differ from ours have an alluring, exotic aspect while shared rituals underscore
the universal features of human life.
On Thursday,
January 28th at 1:00 pm a slideshow will be presented on Antiquities
of Ancient Egypt. While works from many digs will be mentioned, there concentration
will be on objects found in Tomb 10A at Deir el-Bersha.
The program
will run about one hour and afterwards there will be refreshments, coffee, and
informal discussions.
The speaker will be antiques writer Bob Jackman.
OPTIONAL: If you have any Egyptian inspired objects, bring them
to the show, and Bob will be happy to comment on it. Admission is free. While
the talk will be organized around a sequence of 80 slides, the atmosphere will
be informal with questions and answers throughout the presentation. Expect to
learn a bit, share some laughs, and have a good time.
